Abubacarr Camara, Director General of Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard), has dispelled speculations that the land allocated to Senegalese Construction Company, Immo Land SARL for construction of a five star hotel earmarked for hosting delegates of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) meeting slated for end 2022 is not in dispute.
The GTBoard Director General was reacting to speculations that the purported land given to the Senegalese Construction Company belongs to Djembe Group, or to one Indian National.
According to him, the said land was converted to public use by the government of the Gambia and has passed the entire legal test before been officially allocated to Immo Land SARL, Construction Company and also the Gambia Tourism Board and partners foresees no dispute as far as the allocation of the land is concern.
“I think due diligence was done and I am not foreseeing any dispute in the future and Immo Land Sarl can definitely build the OIC hotel without any hindrance from the previous interest groups.
“ The Ministries of Lands, Justice, Tourism and GTBoard were all involved in this and we will definitely not allow any mistakes,” Gtboard DG disclosed.
He added: “So be rest assured that it’s okay as far as we know, the said land is being reverted to Government for public purposes in conformity with our laws.”
“This medium made frantic efforts to reach out to Malleh Sallah, a Senior Member of Djembe Group, owners of Djembe Beach Hotel, Djaliba Hotel and Tamala hotel for his view but the efforts remain futile.
However, it could be recalled that last month Government of The Gambia has signed a contract with IMMO LAND SARL, a Senegalese Construction Company to construct a five star hotel for the country at the tune of one hundred million dollars ($100m).
Gambia Government said the hotel will be used to host delegates of the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC) who are expected in the country end 2022 for their bi-annual conference. The hotel will help the country to host international conference and services as well as create empowerment for teeming number of Gambians
