Stakeholders attended the just completed two-day training n child protection in Mansakonko, Lower River Region have assured of their commitment in protecting child and safeguard health issues.
The training was organized by the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare with funding from UNICEF.
Speaking at the closing ceremony of the training, Governor of Lower River Region Rohey John Manjang, said children affairs should be seen as everybody business, which calls for holistic approaches by stakeholders including communities and actors in shaping solid protection for children on the move and young migrants.
She said seedling for future generations called for holistic approach, while thanking government for the creation of Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare noting that it would help to effectively participate in the protection of children against COVID -19.
She expressed joy on high rate of collaboration among stakeholders in NBR and LRR including security forces and Department of Social Welfare.
Omar Mbackeh Deputy Director Children Welfare Directorate at Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Welfare said promoting child protection issues would help to reduce the challenges facing children at homes, communities and on transits points.
He said that stakeholders should strengthen efforts in the quest to provide Physic Social Support as covid-19 affects lives of women and children.
He said Standards Operating Procedures (SOP) were designed for the best interest of the child and should be seriously look and protect, as this will help in the respond mechanisms in case management, development and reporting of child abuse and Do No Harm to Children.
