In spite of the virulent pandemic affecting the world, which The Gambia is not exceptional, the Gambia Revenue Authority (GRA) has collected amount over D1.2billion income generation for the month of April 2021.
As confirmed to this medium bythe Commissioner General of GRA, Mr Yankuba Darboe, the targeted collection for the month of April was D1,146,543,956.00 but the revenue authority eventually collected over D1.2billion an amount described as by the GRA Boss as unprecedented development.
CG Darboe disclosed that this can only be done with serious minded people, as collecting such amount is not a child play.
The Commissioner General stated that despite the wide spread of covid-19 still affecting the whole world, GRA staff and management will continue to raise the flag of the said institution high.
However, it could be recalled that Mrs. Lucy Fye Jagne retired world Bank staff, now GRA board chair, who did commended the management of GRA through the commissioner General for meeting their set revenue target in 2020 now used this opportunity again to urged GRA staff to continue protecting the image of the GRA.
She also advised them to endeavour embrace the slogan of GRA that was put in place during the formulation of the GRA strategic Plans 2020-2024; “GRA is your GRA and GRA Is our GRA”.
As well, she reiterated that GRA staff should continuing safe guard the image of GRA, noted that their work is very important in the sense that the whole economy depends on their action and activity.
Ms Jagne, again, applauded the staff and management of GRA for the unprecedented achievement.
However, the revenue authority under the command of the Commissioner General is doing everything to meet its set revenue target for the year.
