District Chiefs, TAC orientated on important of immunization

The Regional Health Directorate in Farafenni, North Bank Region recently orientated the district chiefs and members of Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) on important of immunizations, HPV cervical cancer and COVID19 vaccinations.

The synergy was held at Farafenni Health Directorate in North Bank Region. Alieu Sowe Program Officer at Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI) at the Ministry of Health has underscored government commitment and giant strife taken by government and partners on elimination of childhood diseases over the years.

He noted that the orientation would help to ensure full compliance to immunizations and call on all stakeholders to support EPI in promoting the health of under-five to enhance their growth and development in a healthy environment.

Abdoulie Jarju of Farafenni Health Directorate noted that local authorities and technical arms of the region play important roles in the attainment of effective community outreach programs on immunization.

He noted that the outbreak of COVID-19 as affected immunization of children under five years. Jarju noted that HPV immunization against cervical cancer among girls child aimed to protect and prevent from cancer and whilst expressed concern on low acceptance on second round of cervical cancer vaccination at schools and community levels.

He thanked EPI on their tireless efforts in the elimination of childhood diseases.

He extended appreciation to chiefs who doubled as chairperson of Catchment Area Committee at health facility for their support to health sector.

Lamin Jobarteh Senior Health Administrator reiterated the giant strife taken by government and noted that immunization programs are certified by WHO.

He informed the gathering that WHO recognised the efforts of Ministry of Health in providing quality health care and therefore called on local authorities to support good coverage.
