Gambia for Five Years and Peace Building, a pro Barrow group, has dismissed report, which stated that President Adama Barrow spent D6 million (six million dalasis) on the group.
Speaking at a news conference held in Lamin village yesterday, the group’s Secretary General, Ebrima Soriba, described the report as ‘completely false.’
“Gambia for Five Years did not take any money from the President for any of our programs. We organized 115 media platforms but with all those programs, we have never taken a butut from the government,” Ebrima said.
“The Association has money through fund raising and the well-wishers of the association from The Gambia and Diaspora. Also, the money passws through the task force because they don’t want to have any control over the money,” he told reporters.
He challenged those making such allegation to bring up evidence and receipt of the D6 million saying “let them bring out receipt or Pictures as evidence to show us when the president was given us money.”
According to him, President Barrow has never compensated the group and that “we don’t need compensation from the president because they are not doing the work for the president but for the citizens.”
Meanwhile, he responded to Omar Williams about the demised of his wife as “false because when his wife was at the hospital, he informed different departments for support.”
From that information, the president gave money, oil, rice and other stuffs to Naffie then she was admitted at the hospital. I swear, Naffie herself told me on a telephone conversation when I called her that the president supported her a lot by given her money, oil and rice. It was not a duty on the president to take Naffie for treatment because even the family of the president received all their treatments at RVTH.”
He said Naffie was a good leader and they will always praise her, and he knows wherever Naffie is she must be feeling bad on the allegation made against her husband.
He added that why didn’t the UDP take all their sick people for oversea Treatment? In the likes of Solo, Koroma and other victims of UDP which included the family of the late Solo Sandeng? So, “It is not a duty on President Barrow to do something for us because we are working for the citizens not Barrow.”
