The Minister of Foreign Affairs of The Gambia, Honorable Mamadou Tangara, has reiterated that his country and his people will always be at the side of Cuba, a nation he described as noble and very supportive.
Honorable Tangara received this Monday the Cuban ambassador, Rubén G. Abelenda, to whom he expressed that this small West African state will maintain its historic rejection of the blockade imposed by the United States on the largest of the Antilles.
In the cordial and friendly meeting, the Foreign Minister highlighted the Caribbean island for its resistance to the unjust economic, commercial and financial siege that it has suffered for almost 60 years, and demanded its immediate lifting.
He also thanked the collaboration and help that Cuba has provided to the Gambia in different spheres, especially in health, and to all the nations of this continent.
In this sense, he highlighted the humanitarian work carried out by the Medical Brigade of the Antillean Archipelago, which for more than 20 years has provided health care to The Gambian people.
The Chancellor and Ambassador Abelenda took the opportunity to review bilateral ties, and congratulated themselves on the 42nd anniversary of the establishment of mutual diplomatic relations, celebrated on this May 19th.
The Caribbean diplomat congratulated his host on Africa Day, this May 25th, and assured him that Cuba will also always be with The Gambia and all the countries of this continent, with whom it will continue to show solidarity eternally.
