Magistrate F. B. Jallow of the Kanifing Magistrate Court, Tuesday, fined Assan Camara the sum of D100,000.00 after he has pleaded guilty of offence of ‘unlawfully possession of firearm without authority.’
It is a punishable offence under section 25(2)(a) of the arms and ammunition Act Cap 21:01 Volume iv laws of The Gambia 2009.
In narration of his particular of offence, Assan Camara on or about 20th June, 2021 in Gunjur Madina, Kanifing Municipality was found in possession of one Rohm RG 89 revolver pistol, single barrel hunting gun and six (6) life rounds without proper authority or without valid licence.
When the particulars of his offence were read to him, he pleaded guilty of the offence. He was then asked by the court to pay a sum of D100,000 or in default to serve one year in prison.
