Bail for illegal liquor seller

A woman facing charges of illegal selling of liquor has been given a court bail bond by the Kanifing Magistrate Court on Thursday.

Joy Demba who was dragged to court was charged for selling liquor without license contrary to section 13 of the liquor licenses Act Cap 92:02 Volume 14 Laws of The Gambia 2009.

Giving detail of her offence, Madam Demba was selling two cartons which contained bitter liquor, two bottles of bitter kola liquor, some Alomo bitter and some Derok liquor without being duly licensed to sell the same.

However, the presiding Magistrate M Faal granted the accused a bail bond at the sum of D1,000 with a Gambian surety who must present his or her ID Card to the court registrar and a reachable telephone number.

The case is adjourned to 14th of July, 2021, Inspector L Gomez represented the IGP.
