Ex-army turned politician has said President Adama Barrow cannot take the country to the promised land because he lacks the technical know-how on governance.
Speaking to The Voice in an exclusive, Lamin Bojang, secretary general of Alliance for National Reorientation and Development, said: “President Barrow is not a leader and is not the type of leader that can move this country forward.”
“As far as our manifesto is concerned people will say all political parties have have manifestos but who is there to implement what is enshrined in those manifestoes is key. President Barrow too had a manifesto when he came into office, but was he really able to implement what is written in his manifesto,” he querried.
Meanwhile, he said his party will prioritise energy production to help keep the country uncut off electricity, adding that electricity develops a nation.
“If we want a vibrant Health, Agriculture, Education, Fisheries and security we need to have sufficient and affordable electricity in order for us to have affordable and sufficient electricity. We have to also look at our energy sector, and our energy sector is in such a way that fusel fuel is the one that is losing electricity worldwide.
“By 2030, that is going to be reduced to 60 percent so what we have in the Gambia or in Africa, is that we have an advantage over other countries because in The Gambia we have sunlight throughout. Alliance for National Reorientation and Development is saying that we have to also look at renewable energy,” he added.
”Renewable energy is solar and wind to bail this is what is introduced in other parts of the world, while saying that he brought in investors here from Sweden to establish a renewable energy here but they were frowned by the current government and that they were not given the okay to move on. We want to make sure that Agriculture is given priority, we want to make sure that health Education security and fisheries is given a priority,” he concluded.
