National Assembly member for Foni Brefet has called on the State Interior and Transport Ministers to help look for a pragmatic solution to curb the road accidents in the country.
Honorable Sunkary Badjie, who was speaking at the National Assembly chambers last week said: “road accident is becoming rampant in his constituency. It affects everyone and the Ministries of Works and Interior respectively, we have to visit them to discuss about the issue of constant road accident not only in my constituency but the south bank in general.”
He continued that: “the two Ministries supposed to build speed humps to mitigate road accident,
but till date no sign of work is seen.”
He demanded to know when both the Ministries will start the planning because the more they delay more lives are taken by irresponsible drivers, adding that the issue to plenary that a volunteer in his constituency is willing to assist. But the government should give him the design so that work can start.
“I want the government to look at this and with serious urgency and provide mechanism where the drivers will check to minimize the risk of accident,” he said. Saying members should take note of traffic congestion because is affecting economy too.
Meanwhile, Honorable Ndey Yassin Secka, nominated member also added her voice that the country belongs to everyone and is our responsibility to maintain the good path, adding that “if this country destroy it means a bad legacy. So is high time we all advocate for peace it is priceless.”
“We don’t need any new strategy that will jeopardize our peace and no matter what party you belong always advocate for peace as it will benefit everyone. We have to nurture peace for the sake of history,” she said.
