National Assembly Minority Leader, Honorable Samba Jallow has strongly condemned politics of character assasination and called for a stop to such practice.

“Politics in this country is fearful and advise everyone to stay away from it. If anyone is not afraid of this issue going on in this country, then I have a big question to that. Because the political trend in this country is scary. Politics of character assassination will develop serious problem in this country if care is not taken,” he said.

He added: “We have seen the warnings and trends of 2021 presidential elections. The registration process has laws that guides the whole processes and election starts from registration process.”

He advised further “We should not take the law into our hands,” to avoid inviting violence.

According to him, a lot of mysterious issues have been occurring which Gambian has never witness before due to that fact election 2021 is going to be a nightmare.

However, Honorable Jallow called on all politicians to sensitize their followers because each group is represented by a party leader, as politics should be based on rules and regulations to prevent violence.

“Basically the former Minister Tambedou wanted to bring a bill that will criminalize insults but people campaign against the bill until it was withdrawn. In The Gambia, insulting a set of cultures need to address so that anyone who insult another ones’ culture will face justice. I urge every National Assembly member to advise citizens for peace and smooth running of the elections,” he advised.
