The Minister of Interior, Honorable Yankuba Darboe Tuesday appeared before the public petition committee to speak on the Act of Police.
His appearance was in relation to the written petition by cattle owners in Wuli East over police inaction to investigate the cattle theft.
According to the Honorable Minister, when they received the first written petition from the Chief of Wuli, Allhagie Ebrima Sori Jawara who filed the petition, he invited the permanent secretary to the police office (station) and the then IGP to put up the concern and also advise the PS to write personally to him.
“No respond, then I decided that they should investigate the issue because there were lots of allegations in that petition against the police officers” he said.
He stated that the issues are something that can be solved while he disclosed that the letter that he even assigned them for the investigation he could not receive it. He said they constantly call them.
Cattle theft is definitely a crime what information do you need more as far as I know that is not a defense. Darboe added
However, Honorable Sunkary Badjie asked the Interior Minister some questions, which he turns, answered.
