Ambassador Fode Seck, the Executive Secretary of the Senegalo-Gambia Secretariat, on Tuesday bid farewell to President Adama Barrow at the Statehouse in Banjul, marking the end of his term in office.
Ambassador Seck commended President Barrow for his exemplary support and commitment to the ideals of the Senegalo-Gambia secretariat and also praised the numerous strides The Gambia and Senegal took under the leadership of President Barrow and President Macky Sall to bring the people and two countries closer together.
He noted the completion of the SeneGambia Bridge and the establishment of the Gambia-Senegal Joint Presidential Council as some of the significant achievements under the auspices of the Senegalo-Gambia Secretariat.
In the same development, President Barrow General Daouda Niang, Inspector General of the Senegalese Armed Forces, at the Statehouse in Banjul on Tuesday.
. General Niang is in the country to appraise the Senegalese contingent of the ECOMIG mission in The Gambia.
Speaking following his meeting with President Barrow, General Niang said the security of The Gambia and Senegal are intertwined, noting that one cannot go without the other. He said the history and cultural relation between two countries supersede the colonial boundaries that separate them.
“We have to go beyond those borders to make sure that we tackle the common issues together,” said General Niang. General Niang said the overriding “objective is to have our countries developed, and our people live in a safe and prosperous environment.”
