Citizens’ Alliance party has called for debate between all presidential candidates’ days its leader held debate with People’s Democratic Organisation Independent and Socialism on the issues surrounding the 2016 coalition.
Last week’s debate created a sigh of relief among Gambians both at home and abroad who commended it and called for such to continue as they hope it will help eradicate politics of drumming and dancing in the country.
Dr Ismaila Ceesay, Citizens’ Alliance who earned much prominence within the four years, is praised for his courage for calling for a debate within the political elites of the country. Some also praised him for facing off with one of the Gambia’s erudite politicians on issues, as hundreds hope this will pave way for other politicians to also take on each other on national issues.
“Debates encourage candidates to focus on policy issues and help voters make informed choices. Thus, all Presidential candidates must be ready and willing to engage in this so we can learn about proposed policies for job creation and improving standards of living. No Debate No Vote,” Dr Ceesay said on his twitter.
Meanwhile, he continued to outline education as one which is profoundly consider by his party’s government, as he hopes of leading the country.
“Quality and relevant Education under a CA Gambia government will be free and compulsory for every child. Our children are our most important asset and so we must invest in them. Equality of opportunity ensures that every child is included and supported for life success,” the political science lecturer added.
He continued: “We believe in the free-market economy to generate wealth but in a strong state to redistribute this wealth and invest it in our people. That’s the best and by far the most successful way to improve standards of living.”
