Aji Yam Secka, Deputy National President of the United Democratic Party (UDP) has vowed that President Adama Barrow is angry with her for her calls on Gambians to pay gratitude to Lawyer Ousainou Darboe for all his sacrifices endured during dictatorship in the country.
Addressing new members to the party at the residence of UDP leader on Wednesday, she said just that calls on Gambian to support Lawyer Ousainou Darboe continue to hurt President Adama Barrow to date.
“Adama Barrow becomes angry with me when I sang my anthem (Al Nga Darboe la nyi nya joe) that calls on Gambians to pay gratitude to Ousainou Darboe for all his sacrifices endured for this country, and it’s because of this song President Barrow is still angry with me but what am saying is that even Adama Barrow himself should pay gratitude to Ousainou Darboe,” Aji Yam Secka emphasized.
According to her, all throughout their campaigns with President Adama Barrow messages was ‘if your father died is not your fault but if you allow the compound to collapse that is your fault’, adding that anywhere Adama Barrow relayed these messages the people of those communities will assure him of their votes.
“The day Adama Barrow decided to put-off Ousainou Darboe’s shirts that is the day his fame started demishing and become naked. Let’s stop betrayal, betrayal is not good and under no circumstances should we forget the good deeds ushered to us yesterday, anyone who doesn’t remember yesterday you are not a good person,” she added.
According to her, President Barrow’s assumption to UDP flagbear could not have been possible without her and Aji Yamundau Yabou, revealing that at the time some male members of the national executive committee of the UDP were against the candidature of Adama Barrow.
“Today is very nice but then when we set out for a nationwide tour with President Barrow some of our male counterparts in the national executive refused to follow us. They claimed that I am the one backing his bid and Barrow himself can attest what I am saying whether is true or false,” she stated.
She called on Ousainou Darboe to continue exercising patience, recalling that the former APRC government refused to pay her 30years service when she voluntarily resigned, but with time and being patient, she has now been paid her dues that rightfully belong to her.
She commended the members from Niani saying that under no circumstances should Gambians be ungrateful to the peoples of Niani
She also recalled that the country first President late Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara was a native of Niani who had endeavoured everything for the country and it was through his hard work and dedication that Gambia becomes independent.
“Sir Dawda was a native of Niani and brought independence for us, Ousainou Darboe is also from Niani and defeated dictatorship. So, what are we waiting for in offering our supports to him to led the country come December, 4th” Aji Yam Secka renews her calls on peoples of Niani.
She added: “I want to calls on all of you to safely keep your voter’s card which is the most important thing at the moment. If we vote as expected Ousainou Darboe will win and sure this will happen so that we can pay gratitude to him for his endless sacrifices endued for this country.”
