President Adama Barrow, has promised to deal with opposition sympathisers and supporters working in government after his re-election on 4th December, 2021.
On Friday in Banjul, he told the youth wing of the National People’s Party that the coalition government has been an impediment for growth and development he yearns for this country.
The Youth from West Coast Region and Kanifing Municipality converged to renew their unflinching support to the Gambian leader ahead of the December 4th Presidential election.
“In my government we have different factions, some on the left others on the right but by 4th December, the sheep and the goats will no longer be in the same house. The sheep will be in their own house and the goats will also be in their own house, that will be the time The Gambia will have complete freedom and independent,” President Barrow vowed.
He added: “There are those that criticize that am not brave, there are others who said am not educated and there are those who said am always sleeping but the day I wake up from sleep, they will run away from this country.”
According to him, the government have been running affair under a very difficult circumstances and tight budget but yet accomplish a lot of development initiatives for the country, adding that the works accomplished during the period is the tip of the iceberg that will be presided over by an unprecedented development once given a second chance.
The Gambian leader continued to take credit for building roads and bridges, bringing back democracy and freedom as well as increasing the salaries of civil servants and pensioners to 50% and 100% respectively within a period of four years.
He added that during this difficult period run by the coalition government there were people who are either with him or working for the oppositions.
“We have built 3000 first class classrooms tiled and fitted with electricity supply, built 1000 quarters for teachers, renovated 1500 classrooms. Currently, my government is sponsoring 1400 students at the university, sponsoring 600 tertiary students plus 700 Gambian students outside the country on various programs and courses,” President Barrow disclosed.
Dilating on the youth convergence, President Barrow said the coming together by the youths of WCR and KMC is a clear indication of their resolve to getting him back to Statehouse for the second time come December, adding that the high turnout of the youths has send a clear message to the opposition that NPP Youths are ready for their mission.
“You have taken a great decision to vote in your President on 4th December, 2021, the message is loud and clear. Unless for those who refused to acknowledge your message but the message is loud and clear,” President Barrow tells the Youths.
He said his government has big plans for the youths of the country, adducing that after December 4th, government will embark on industrialisation that will involve attracting factories and building state of the earth skills centers meant to give the youths a ready-made market.
