An accused by the name Max, 30 has been charged with rape offence contrary to section 3 (1) 2(b) of the sexual offences Act Laws of the Gambia, a charge he has so far denied.
Testifying before magistrate Mam Samba Jallow of the Kanifing Magistrate Court, a guidance to the alleged raped 16-year-old girl told the court that “the accused called the girl and pretended to send her to the shop, so when the girl came back from the shop, he pulled the girl and attempted to rape her. After he didn’t succeed he inserted his fingers in her (in her private part).”
According to the statement, Max on or about the 15th day of March 2021, at Dippa Kunda in the Kanifing Municipality of the Republic of The Gambia raped a 16-year-old girl through her v****a by inserting his finger.
Senior Prosecutor ASP Jahateh representing the IGP pleaded for an adjournment to enable him bring more witnesses to testify. The case was adjourned till the 7th of September 2021 at 11: am.
