The ministry of health has said 28 people have tested positive for coronavirus but there was no related death to the disease.
According to the 367th national situation reports of the Ministry of Health which states that since the confirmation of the first case of the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in The Gambia, on the 16th March 2020 no new COVID-19 related deaths registered, bringing the total to 328 (Crude Case-Fatality Ratio, 3.3%). A total of 28 new cases were registered (cumulative cases 9,848). Thirteen (13) & 15 cases were reported on the 8th and 9th respectively.
“The test positivity rate is 4.1% (28/677) all from NPH 636 (23 positive) and MRCG 41(5 Positive) of the total new cases, 17 were males and 10 females, with a median age of 40 (range of 2 – 85 years). Nine (9) cases are currently on oxygen therapy. For reasons of testing, 18 (64.3%) tested for travelling, 2 (7.1%) for suspicion of COVID-19, 1 (3.6%) due to determine COVID-19 related deaths, 1 (3.6 %) to know COVID-19 status and 6 (21.4%) for unspecified reasons,” the ministry of health statement disclosed.
“Seven (7) cases were newly discharged from treatment centers, while 16 got discharged at least 10 days from the day they tested positive but evaded institutional isolation. No new contacts traced and monitored o Janssen & Janssen: Only 1 dose: 144,953 As of 9th September 2021, the following number of people have been vaccinated with: Sinopharm: Dose 1: 4,457 Dose 2: 2,807, AstraZeneca:Dose 1:31,649Dose 2:19,626.
“Of the total national target population (≥ 18 years) been vaccinated: o 10.7% are fully vaccinated (2 doses of AZ/Sinopharm or 1 dose of J&J) o 11.6% received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose (AZ or J&J or Sinopharm). Since the start of RDT for COVID-19 at The Banjul International Airport, 20,722 rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) have been conducted with 8 positives that were confirmed and treated,” it added.
