15 coronavirus patients in intensive care unit

The Ministry of Health has announced that fifteen coronavirus patients are placed on intensive care receiving medications.

According to the latest national situation reports on covid-19 issue number 371st from the Ministry of Health, no new COVID-19 related death registered, as the total death remains 332 (Crude Case-Fatality Ratio, 3.4%), while a total of 3 new cases were registered (cumulative cases 9,888).

“The test positivity rate is 1.4% (3/210) all from NPH 190 (1 positive) and MRCG 20(2 Positive) of the total new cases, 2 were males and 1 female, with ages ranging from 20 – 67 years). Fifteen (15) cases are currently on oxygen therapy. For reasons of testing, 1 (33%) tested for travelling, and 2 (67%) for unspecified reasons. No cases were newly discharged from treatment centres, while 6 got discharged at least 10 days from the day they tested positive but evaded institutional isolation. No new contacts traced and monitored,” the report stated

Further to that, “fifteen (15) cases are currently on oxygen therapy. For reasons of testing, 1 (14%) tested for travelling, and 6 (86%) for unspecified reasons.  Two (2) cases were newly discharged from treatment centres, while 15 got discharged at least 10 days from the day they tested positive but evaded institutional isolation. No new contacts traced and monitored. Johnson and Johnson: Only 1 dose: 146,332 as of 15th September, 2021, the following number of people have been vaccinated with Sinopharm:  Dose 1: 4,457, Dose 2: 3,015, AstraZeneca:  Dose 1:31,752  Dose 2:20,010.

“Of the total national target population (≥ 18 years) been vaccinated: 10.8% are fully vaccinated (2 doses of AZ/Sinopharm or 1 dose of J&J)11.6% received at least one COVID-19 vaccine dose (AZ or J&J or Sinopharm). Since the start of RDT for COVID-19 at The Banjul International Airport, 21,575 rapid diagnostic tests (RDT) have been conducted with 8 positives who were confirmed and treated.”
