Approve Service (APS) one of the leading Money transfer Microfinance Company in The Gambia last Wednesday donated medical items worth D575,000.00 to the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital (EFSTH) and Kanifing General Hospital.
The presentation ceremony was held at the Maternal Ward in Banjul and was attended by some senior staff of the Hospital, senior management of APS led by the Managing Director Mr Babucarr Joof.
The donated items were part of the APS Corporate Social Responsibility to give back to the most vulnerable people in the society.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, the managing Director of APS Mr. Momodou Joof acknowledged the warm welcome accorded to APS to present at the presentation of the medical items.
He therefore praises the management of the hospital for accepting donation from APS as they are meant for supporting maternal ward in EFSTH and Kanifing General Hospital.
“This is how APS can reach the community and Gambians at large for supporting APS in its business endeavour”. Mr. Joof stated.
APS, he said, is the leading money transfer company to The Gambia and it is above all the global branches in this world.
He disclosed that APS identified these two major health facilities, thus Kanifing General Hospital and EFSTH which are the most demanding by the patients, and APS has offered to make it a biennial event effect from this year.
According to him, APS is also committed to work with its communities and agents who are representing APS in various communities to take part of the transition fees providing by the agents, set aside as a pool and at same time continue to mobilise additional resources from its external customers to support all local health facilities across the country.
The donation will be extended to other facilities in year to come while on behalf of the board of management of APS, he thanked the EFSTH and KGH for accepting the donation.
For his part Dr. Robert, CMD of the EFSTH expressed appreciation over the donated medical items while commended the management of APS for this magnificent gesture. He also used the opportunity to further commended APS for been the leading microfinance institution that supported the Hospital.
Also the deputy director of health service, Dr.Nyassi, commended APS for this bold initiative, saying the donation will go a long way in complimenting government efforts in realising effective health service delivery.
