By Mustapha Jarju

The leader of United Democratic Party has touted his nationwide tour crowd as a sign of his victory to the presidency in December.

Lawyer Ousainou Darboe who began a two weeks tour this week said: “what I have seen is a sign, and a very good sign, even those children in school who are not yet 11 years of age are all saying UDP.”

“We thank God for the sweat, blood and the torture meted on the UDP supporters that made the progress for forming more than ten new political parties in the country. They were all quite before and no one knows where they were but when UDP supporters were killed, incarcerated and do ‘Jihad’ to make sure there is democracy in the country and the party succeeded in that, either you agree or not it is the UDP who freed this country,” he added.

Lawyer Darbo who was also a former vice president also highlighted on his 2016 imprisonment under former presidential Jammeh rule, saying “I know about who used to afraid before to stand before political platforms but today ‘am hearing those people saying they are the ones who can free this nation.”

However, he said his government will provide sufficient fertilizers to the farmers in time, adding which will not be sold to other countries.

He promised to provide modern farming equipment for the farmers and rebuild and support the health sector.

“My government contract works will provide 25% job opportunities for the youth, even contracts are awarded to foreign companies, we will insist that 25% of the employees must be Gambians. Just I said in five-point agenda no matter how strong or important it is you cannot utilize it without forming a government and you cannot form a government without voting for the UDP.”

He called on the people of lower Nuimi to vote for him in December presidential election in order to free the country from bad leadership and rampant corruption.
