The Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education has commended the nation’s teachers for their services to the society as it celebrated World Teachers’ Day held under the theme “Teachers at The Heart of Education Recovery.”
“It is certain that Teachers are resolute in recovering the lost time in teaching and learning, and are keen in accelerating progress towards inclusive, equitable, and quality education for every learner, despite their circumstances. Being cognizant of these efforts, my Ministry is not only committed to providing teachers with professional training, continuous capacity development and conducive working environment, but also creating the enabling environment and opportunities, in addition to providing educational technologies that would effectively support teaching and learning,” Claudian A. Cole Minister of Basic and Secondary Education said in a statement.
She said despite the negative impact of Covid-19 to the education sector, but that “it also revealed the importance of teachers and the teaching profession in our society, as teachers continue to be at the frontlines, in ensuring learning continues even when schools were closed.”
“This endeavour of the teachers has led to the recently remarkable grade nine results which would have not been achieved without their dedication and commitment to drive for excellence in our education system. As we celebrate World Teachers’ Day today, let us all recognize and commend the exceptional commitment and dedication of all the teachers for their innovativeness under these very difficult and unpredictable conditions as they strive to facilitate learning and impact knowledge to their students, who are our future leaders,” she added.
“Thank you and bravo to my hardworking and gallant teachers you are indeed heroes and heroines. Keep up the good work as you are all greatly appreciated. I am proud of you all and I wish to assure you of my Ministry’s unflinching support in carrying out your duties. Best wishes and an enjoyable teachers’ day celebration. May we witness many more in good health and more opportunities,” she prayed.
