At least 30 young entrepreneurs have concluded a 7 days training on product packaging and branding through The Gambia Youth Chamber of Commerce (GYCC) in partnership with Tekki Fii project, at an organised training held at NaNA complex.
The training was meant to build their capacities in product packaging and branding of their products to enable them competes in the local and international markets.
Speaking at just concluded training, Baboucarr Kebbeh, CEO of GYCC assured that participants will also take part in the upcoming Trade Fair.
CEO Kebbeh said the training is part of GYCC’s annual pre-trade fair predation programs to support and prepare business enterprises to improve and enhance their product packaging and branding skills and method to enable them attract sales and investment during the duration of the trade fair.
He added that they are also planning to further support these participants to undergo a three (3) months business coaching programme after the trade fair.
“As of today, we have 12 international partners that we are working with,” he said, adding that it is because of their commitment and determination. There is no success without hurdles and challenges,” he advised the participants.
Sukai Jobe, Founder Taste of Nature who also benefited from the same training two years back said with the training her business has significantly improved.
“Our packaging now is of standard, we supply supermarkets, minimarkets and individuals we export from The Gambia, too,” the beneficiary outlined.
She advised the participants to take up risks despite what the challenges are. She urged them to have the passion of what they are doing and not to allow anyone to discourage them.
Gabriel Gomez, IMVF Agri-Business Adviser said packing is fundamental in business because it increases value and helps in the visibility of various enterprises.
He hopes that the new trainees will try to practice what they have learned, while he urged them to contribute to national development by focusing on what will actually help them to improve their businesses.
