Fatou Sonko and Mariama Gitteh who had been charged with stealing by agents have pleaded not guilty of the single count of the offence pressed against them as they appeared before Magistrate Isatou Janneh Njie of the Kanifing Magistrate Court on Wednesday, 6th October, 2021.
The duo accused, Fatou Sonko and Mariama Gitteh were charged for single count of of offence which is stealing by agents contrary the laws of The Gambia.
They both pleaded not guilty of the offence when the charged sheet was read to them.
However, Fatou Sonko was granted a bail in the sum of D1.2million with two Gambian sureties who shall deposit their documents and contact with compound documents which must not less than the bail amount while Mariama Gitteh was also granted bail in the sum of D250,000.00 with two Gambian sureties who shall deposit their documents and contacts with the court.
According to the particular of Fatou Sonko’s offence, sometime in August, 2021 along Kairaba avenue in the Kanifing Municipality, being the agent of Excel business solution and Omega as distributor, which deals in selling Afrimoney, Fatou Sonko stole D1,195,500.00 (one million one hundred and ninety-five thousand dalasis)from the said companies, being property of the said companies.
And according to the particular of Mariama Gitteh’s offence, sometime in August, 2021 along Kairaba avenue in the Kanifing Municipality, she being agent of Excel Business Solution and Omega as distributor deals with selling Afrimoney, she stole D204,000.00(two hundred and four thousand dalasis )from the said companies being the property of the said companies.
Meanwhile, the case has been adjourned to 18th October, 2021 at 1:30 pm for hearing. Sgt 4196 represented the IGP.
