ActionAid is a global justice federation working to achieve social justice, gender equality and poverty eradication. Which work to empower poor and marginalized people in the Gambia to claim their human rights, to demand public services and to live a life of dignity.

On Monday 04th October 2021 a cross-section of ActionAid International The Gambia (AAITG) staff and partners converge to kick start a weeklong Participatory Review and Reflection Process (PRRP). This is one of the requirements of ActionAid federation which should be carried out at least twice in a year to ensure critical engagement with partners, communities, and other stakeholders through reflecting on how AAITG work has made a difference in the lives and livelihood of people.

The PRRPs event facilitates dialogue with stakeholders and ensure accountabilities for the results, and thereby build trust in relationships and synergy in actions being executed by AAITG.

It also enables AAITG to learn from its experiences, to respond and adapt to a changing context by jointly analyzing how, what, and why changes happened, we learn from people living in poverty and each other and build a shared understanding of how we should engage with the change process. Based on this shared understanding, AAITG can complement each other’s roles and create synergy in its future actions.

Omar Badji the Executive Director, on his part at the opening ceremony, said “the PRRP critically assess programme performance and quality and draw lessons that will inform future planning and programming and enhance organizational effectiveness in the fight against poverty, social exclusion, and injustice in the Gambia”.

“This will also allow us to interact with not only ActionAid mainstream activities but EU project grant beneficiaries (Women socio-economic and Agro-ecology and eco-restoration, and Civic Education projects) and the Empowering Civil Society Organization’s to mobilize Citizen Actions towards a green economy and environmental sustainability to critically access the level of implementation, challenges and achievement for future planning and reporting”.

“The activity will further look at activities implemented by the Global Fund, and AmplifyChange Projects,” said Badji.

The Head of Programs and Policy Fanta Jatta – Sowe added that based on the findings of the PRRP it will provide recommendations towards developing cost-effective measures and strategies that would yield maximum impact and benefits for the staff, communities, partners, and other stakeholders for the year.
