Mayor Malick-Lowe donates electronic beds to BMCHH

The Mayor of Banjul, Rohey Malick-Lowe, has donated five electronic beds to the Bundung Maternal and Child Health Hospital for the general welfare of women.

The donation followed a video which went viral revealing the shortage of equipment in the hospital.

Speaking at the presentation, Mayor Rohey Malick-Lowe said: “The beds giving are not only for the women of Bundung but instead to all women in The Gambia as women across the country give birth at Bundung Maternal and Child Health Centre.”

She said she heard about the cries of the Bundung labour ward and deemed it necessary to be part of the solution to the hospital.

“We are very much aware that we cannot solve every problem especially when it comes to the health sector. But we want to be part of the solution that is why we donate five electronic beds. As a board member of the EFSTH I think it is part of my duty at least to try to compliment to the government efforts,” she added.

According to her, she wants to see women reach where they are supposed to reach, and therefore assured them that they will show their continuous support.

Meanwhile, PRO Modou Lamin Bah, highlighted that Mayor Rohey Malick Lowe Women and Child Initiative was established to empower women and youth in the Gambia in diverse ways. Adding that, the Mayor has done a lot in the area of health.

Majula Kinteh, Head of the Labor ward, commended the mayoress and her initiative for coming at a better time as the hospital’s maternal labour needs beds she assured the Mayoress and the public that the electronic beds will be used for its purpose.

Kebba Manneh, Chief Executive Officer of Bundung Maternal and Child Health Centre, expressed gratitude for the kind gesture rendered to them at a time it is needed most.
