Medical Research Council (MRC) Gambia Thursday, 7th October, donated medical equipment including electronic record system, CCTV Cameras, Syringes and gloves to Ndemban Clinic, Bakau.
Speaking at the presentation ceremony, Dr Abubcarr Jagne, Head of Covid -19 Case Management said: “This has become like some kind of model such form that has never been inexistence as covid-19 as always being here the good side of it is to learn things differently in the past, we never think that there would be need to use cameras to look after patients.”
He noted that realized that the management board came up with the idea and it’s very important, that they have to put cameras in patient wards while they will sit outside to look after them and the contact hours.
According to him, the clinics must also have its strategic change toward what is correct, “we also have the opportunity to have electronic medical record this will be able to have a very good record system which should be done at any pointing time.”
Dr Ousman Nyang, Chief Medical Director at EFSTH, said the donation was possible through the general engagement of key stakeholders to the Gambia Red Cross Society and MRC Gambia including business partners and UN as well as the Ministry of Health.
“It is a way of consolidating and of doing things in a different way given the challenges brought by the medical team issue related to the pandemic. We are very fortunate to be able to continue and manage this place with all the challenges the pandemic brings for medical practitioners,” he said.
Dr Momodou Nyassi Deputy Director of Health Services said MRC has been supporting the Ministry of Health for many years and they have mutual benefit in the past years especially in the covid -19 pandemic.
“MRC has not only supported the Ministry of Health but it has also supported the government through creation of employment, employed many Gambians. That’s what a country needs as mutual benefits,” he said.
Dr Nwakanma, Chief Medical Operating Officer MRC Gambia, also said: “This equipment been donated to Ndemban Clinic, we hope that it has impact on the patients, MRC has been partners with the ministry of health for long-time and we look forward for that to continue.”
