“Police are ready to save lives, properties in December Election”

The Police Commissioner of North Bank Region, Ansumana Kinteh has underscored the role of the security in ensuring that there are public peace and order in 4th  December presidential election, saying the police are ever ready to ensure that lives and properties are safe in this country.

He challenged the youths to behave well and not to sacrifice themselves because of politics.

Commissioner Kinteh was speaking on Monday during a 5 days regional tour organize by the Deneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF) in collaboration with WANEP the Gambia on Regional Dialogue ahead of presidential election, as part of strengthen awareness creation on peace building for community across the country on the presidential election.

The objective of the tour which is expected to end on Friday, meant to sensitizes Gambians, on security peace and developments ahead of the December 4 election.

The regional meeting was attended by governors, district chiefs, Alkalolou, Police commissioners, National Security Council Adviser among other stakeholders in the regions.

The dialogue accorded participants chance of coming together and discuss issues to achieve peaceful election and also talk about the role of security in the whole process before, during and after election.

Commissioner Kinteh, said politic come and go but people are here to stay so therefore he called on the people to be careful in doing their politic as youths of this country.

The NBR Police Commissioner used the opportunity to thank DCAF and partners for embarking on a regional dialogue in a bid to sensitise the community on the importance of peace building and the role of the security in the maintenance of peace in the society.

For his part Mr. Lamin Saidykhan Governor of North Bank Region praised DCAF for this important decision as regarding sensitization of the community on the relevant of peace building especially at this period of election.

He also expressed similar sentiment that everyone has right to vote for any political party but should not allow politic to divide our unity as Gambian.

The Governor also spoke at length about the danger of the social media which he said can cause negative impact within the society.

Chief Fabala Fadia Kinteh of Lower Badibou and Lang Kanteh Singhateh Alkali of Sabba all spoke on the significant of the sensitization.
