Jubilant supporters have welcomed the People’s Democratic Organisation for Independence and Socialism (PDOIS) flagbearer, Honorable Halifa Sallah and his entourage from their countrywide caravan tour.
The PDOIS supporters dressed in their known white T-shirts embalmed with picture of Honourable Sallah, chanted: ‘we need system change,’ as their cars horns blared when entering the Greater Banjul Area.
Speaking to his beloved supporters and followers, Honourable Sallah who is also the current lawmaker for Serrekunda briefed the gathering the messages of his party during the caravan tour and reiterated calls for Gambians to know that the power belongs to them.
“You have powers to elect but when electing you should have a reason: which is the person you are electing to bestow your wealth to him or her, but if he or she takes ownership of that wealth you will lose it. And if he or she comes to you; you beg him or her sugar, rice and clothing and he or she gives you those, and you in turn give him or her the coffers and he will be in heaven on this earth and you will be in hell on this earth: that’s to born in poverty, grow up in poverty and die in poverty and live your family in abject poverty,” he told the cheering crowd at the PDIOS political headquarters in Churchill’s Town.
“And that is what we say should end in this country and what will end this: is for anyone of (us Gambians) to know who you are and know what belongs to you and give your wealth to someone whom you will get back to benefit you,” he added.
“And when we went around the country, everybody agreed that: the poverty and hardship in the country is painful and it should end and we are the people [Gambians] who can end this problem,” he continued.
