Lawyer Asan Martine, a member of Gambia Democratic Congress, has vowed that his party is willing and ready to work former ruling party, Alliance for Patriotic Reorientation and Construction, (APRC), in the upcoming presidential election.

In an exclusive interview with The Voice, he recalled that GDC has a natural bone with the APRC and most APRC supporters see GDC as a solution to this country because GDC will work to save the sovereignty of this country and GDC will help to unify this country

Meanwhile, the lawyer turned politician Martine’s didn’t reveal which group of the APRC his party is ready to work with as  the former ruling party  is at  the crossroad for  the founder last weekend addressed.

“Most people see GDC as the matured leader in this particular situation. Also, the issue of Jammeh and the APRC executives causes a lot of commotions and confusion within the APRC, and the supporters are more confused. I hope they come and see GDC as the common-sense party,” he added
He said that GDC has opened the door for the APRC confuse supporters to come and work with them because most of them now recognize that Jammeh being outside is not in control and the executives also being here are not in control, adding that Jammeh also made in a statement that people have the democratic right to join any party

“APRC is in a confused situation. Also, the supporters are very much confused after hearing the former president saying that let the supporters’ alliance with the party that most people don’t know about,” he continued.

According to him, GDC is the party of solutions that will help them and open doors for them to work with them. Adding that in reality it is a surprise.

“We heard Jammeh coming out with this kind of statement and then trying to tell supporters to go in another direction that is different from that of the executives, and the executives went to Barrow a few months ago saying that they don’t have money and that Barrow is the one that has money and he is the one that can sponsor them.

“It was definitely disheartening to hear a party like APRC definitely depends on President Barrow to help them in politics. But on the side of Jammeh now, the recent pronouncement that he didn’t agree or approve APRC working with Barrow I think is a big blow against the executives of APRC that went to Barrow and everything is in dilemma now,” he pointed out.
