The presiding Magistrate of the Kanifing Magistrate Court yesterday sentenced Modou Sanneh to serve a two-year jail term in prison for shoplifting and stealing.
In his ruling, Magistrate Colley ruled that the culprit to either compensate the complainant for the unrecovered properties or serve one year prison term.
However, the culprit is ordered to appear before the court on 10th November for count two charges
Meanwhile, the Count 1 from his statement of offence read shop breaking and the Count 2 read stealing all contrary to the laws of the country.
According to the narration of his offence; Modou Sanneh on 22nd October, 2021 at Kololi he stole the following items – eight trousers valued at one thousand dalasis, five pairs of ladies’ shoes valued at eight thousand five dalasis, four bags valued three thousand, two hundred dalasis, fifteen clothes for children valued ten thousand dalasi.
Further to that, he also stole five hundred dalasis, seven sweet pans valued at four thousand, two hundred dalasis, six ladies’ bags valued four thousand, eight hundred dalasis, twenty-two men’s Gens valued thirteen thousand, eight hundred dalasis and ten shot Gens valued five thousand dalasis.
