The leader of United Democratic Party has called on Gambians to join his party amid massive support of opposition politicians to President Adama Barrow’s National People’s Party ahead of December election.
Lawyer Darboe’s call came barely a month before December presidential election that will see five presidential candidates to challenge Barrow in the polls.
Lawyer Ousainou Darboe said: “Join us and help bring the change we are all yearning for. The United Democratic Party (UDP) is a national party with an open-door policy that allows every Gambian irrespective of gender, race, ethnicity or religious background to join as a bona fide member, participate in the party’s activities, and have your voice heard. We value diversity, equality and social justice.”
“Becoming a member of the UDP means you will be joining a vibrant community of selfless patriots who continue to stand ready to promote and defend our Democracy, Freedom, Human and Civil Rights!” he added,
Meanwhile, he added: “our work is centred in our core values, responsive governance and multi-party democracy, zero tolerance on corruption and all forms of organised crime, respect for fundamental human rights and freedoms, the rule of law and constitutionalism, diversity and social inclusion, national and territorial sovereignty, free market principles.”
“International cooperation and global peace, the participation of women in the political governance of the country, protecting the environment and mitigating the impact of climate change, the education of the girl child, youth development and skills training,” he noted.
