Dozens of opposition women supporters are ranting as seven among the disqualified presidential aspirants endorsed President Adama Barrow for re-election in the upcoming December poll as they described their action dishonesty to the country’s progress.
Speaking to The Voice, Oumie Jammeh, a supporter of the United Democratic Party, said: “Some of those people who endorsed President Barrow, we heard them saying Barrow is not a good leader and cannot develop this country. But after the IEC has disqualified their nominations they went and endorsed whom they believe cannot develop this country. Those people are not worth to be trusted and no Gambian should trust them.”
According to her, those who endorsed Barrow are selfish they do not have sympathy for the citizens of this country especially for the women.
She enjoined Gambians to disassociate themselves from such politicians, “because they are not trustworthy and we shouldn’t try to vote for such people into presidency.”
Aja Sandeh, also a United Democratic Party supporter, said: “these people who endorsed Barrow will make many people to give-up on politicians because: they told people particularly their members that I want your votes to change the government in power and now they are disqualified and rushed to joined the person they wanted to change from sit of power.”
“Indeed, the Independent Electoral Commission has not made any mistake in dropping them because they came for their personal benefit and not the benefit of the Gambian people,” she said.
“I am urging every patriotic citizen to vote wisely and vote for politicians like Ousainou Darboe and Halifa Abubacarr Sallah they are the people who can change the country and develop it,” she said.
However, Filly Jammeh, a supporter of the National People’s Party said: “those who endorsed President Barrow did not make a mistake as they believed that endorsing the incumbent is the best idea they could ever made.”
“Anyone who loves this country should join President Barrow to take the flag of The Gambia to higher height as he is the chosen one,” she said, and urged Gambians to unite and ensure that Barrow stays in power for the next five years.
Alagie Mandou Dampha also a supporter of the NPP said politicians that endorsed Barrow did it in the best interest of the country saying “we are in politics season, so everybody will say something against the regime but we believe in him that he is capable of developing this country.”
