Two fully loaded 40-foot containers from the Belgian Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG) have arrived in The Gambia.
The fully loaded containers are meant for schools and students sponsoring by the BFoTG who is presently sponsoring over 300 students from early childhood development to senior secondary school and training centers within region one and two.
According to the chairman of the Belgian Friends of The Gambia (BFoTG), Patrick de Vos, he said they were unable to come last year due to global coronavirus pandemic outbreak adding that the items in the containers are educational, health and agricultural items.
He informed that currently his organization is sponsoring over 300 students from Nursery to senior secondary schools and training institutions levels within West Coast Region and Kanifing Municipality respectively.
According to De Vos, his team members included eight (8) professionals in the fields of nursing, IT and teaching while others are retired civil workers from various fields. During their two weeks, to stay, in The Gambia, they will inspect school projects under their sponsorship.
Our sponsor students are in the following schools namely: Jambangjelly Nursery, Lower Basic and Upper Basic Schools, Siffoe Lower and Upper Basic Schools, New Yundum Lower Basic School, New Yundum Health Center and New Yundum tailoring shop all in the West Coast Region.
And also at Bakoteh Senior Secondary School, Bakoteh Annex Lower Basic School, Bakoteh Proper Lower Basic School, Nyodema Nursery School, Latri-kunda Upper Basic School and St. Therese’s Lower Basic School all within the Kanifing Municipality (KM).
Mr. Vos on behalf of his organization members expressed his sadness for not being able to come last year due to coronavirus outbreak worldwide while also commended various heads of schools under their sponsorship for their understanding and cooperation with them for the past years.
He assured of his organization’s readiness to continue helping Gambian’s children in order to have meaningful future in their life career as well as preparing them to become responsible leaders.
