By: Nyima Sillah

Essa Mbaye Faal, an independent presidential candidate has promised a better pay for Gambian civil servants if he is elected into office in the upcoming December election.

Speaking at a political rally held in Farafenni, the former TRRC lead counsel said: “those that have work, we will give them good payment so that you can stand for yourself and feel proud to say you have a job, but not this small jobs whereby you cannot even buy a bag of rice at the end of the month, a payment that you cannot even feed yourself and family. If you want that change, vote for us on December 4 so that we change this country and change your way of life so that The Gambia can start to change like other countries.”

He however dismissed Barrow’s health insurance policy saying his policy doesn’t cover the entire Gambian people but rather catered for only government workers.

“If you vote for us, we will work for you and establish hospitals I don’t mean paracetamol hospital but the hospital that will have medication with health insurance. They came and bring health insurance they did not bring it for you people instead they bring it for government officials I don’t agree with that, health insurance must come for all there should not be any different we are all equal,” he said.

He went on that his government will consider everyone equal and all the citizens will benefit from the same opportunities. Adding that, they will establish a place for people to learn skills so that after graduation, they can be self-employed and benefit their families.

Meanwhile, Kitabou Fatty said the Chinese fishing in the Gambia River will be disallowed and to accomplish this is to vote for Essa Faal.

“I have been going around the country and what politicians tell people, none of it should be considered. We must support the Gambia that is more important,” he said.

“This country is into something that the youth know.  You will graduate from school without a job, for the teachers, if you calculate the lunch of students it will be more than their salary. So, let’s try and join together because youth are the future leaders and we are the ones that can take this country forward let us not allow anyone to fool us,” he added.
