Essa Mbaye Faal, the only independent presidential candidate in the race of presidency has promised to establish a diaspora office at the office of the president if he wins the December presidential election.

Speaking at a rally held in Willingara, the former lead counsel of TRRC said: “the Gambia depends mainly on diaspora money as it contributes millions of dalasi in the country.”

“Let no one fool you we thank diaspora people and as of today, six hundred and twenty-seven million dollars is what they invested in The Gambia that is why I said diaspora should be helped so that they can bring one billion dalasi plus another fifty million dalasi which is a lot of money and if it should come it will solve a lot of issues in this country,” he said.

“Diaspora should get help but the government did not consider diaspora office that is why I said I will give diaspora assistance by giving them an office in the office of the president because that office will be more important than all the offices,” he added.

Faal emphasized that the only opportunity that can bring in billion dollars is through the establishment of a diaspora office. And they should embrace above all, give them space, assist them and encourage them so that they can bring more money to The Gambia, he continued.

Meanwhile, he pointed out that if citizens vote for them (him), they will begin serious work by building schools that will meet international standards, open vocational schools that will teach skills so that the youth can be self-employed
