Essa Faal, an independent presidential candidate, has challenged President Adama Barrow and his government over delay in OIC project saying they are using the project to fake Gambians to get votes.
The former lead counsel of TRRC was speaking at Galoya community saying the project is having a fundamental problem.
“They wait until two weeks before elections they brought machines saying they are doing the clearing. The fake is too much, something that was given to you four years ago you seat and delayed in the past four years yet you cannot even do groundbreaking,” he said.
“Nothing has happened, this means it has a fundamental problem either they don’t know how to do it or they cannot work. The project puts a hardship on people for four years a hardship that affects those going to school will be late, those going to work will be late, businesses will be delayed just for the construction of one road causing a serious problem in the country,” Faal told a rally in Galoya.
“If they know what to do, they would have been done by those roads because the money was not the issue. What OIC gave us since the time of Yahya Jammeh still we cannot do it perhaps is given to other countries for them to do it and if we are not careful in this 2022, they will not able to do it,” he added.
“The road construction that they are chanting in Banjul should be constructed during the winter season because if they construct it during the rainy season the water that will flow will pollute the entire city. Adding that there is no way for water to flow,” he disclosed.
Meanwhile, he urged the people of Galoya to vote for him saying he will bring perfect living conditions for the people of Galoya., adding that Galoya is not far from the Airport but the village lacks water, electricity and good roads.
“If you want your country to go further, if you want your community to be like other communities you should come to people who remember you, come to us, and vote for us,” he said.
