Honorable Halifa Sallah, leader of PDOIS and one of the presidential candidates in the just concluded presidential election has described the 2021 presidential election as ‘the most deciding election in The Gambia.’
Honorable Sallah who spoke to journalists on Saturday after casting his vote at the Serrekunda Ghadafi Mosque said, “it must be recalled that for fifty-two years after independence there was no change to the ballot box until 2016. When election was done through a coalition but now we have parties that are clearly putting their programs before the people and giving the people an opportunity to decide which party can address the nation.”
He expressed confidence saying he’s convinced that the just concluded election will decide whether there will be a new Gambian who can build a new Gambia or we have Gambians who are still by virtues of mindset try to be old needing which change will take longer time and allow poverty to perceive longer time and suffering.
Meanwhile, he said whether he wins or not that will not be a surprise to him, “to be honest nothing can make me to be surprised because when we finish the campaign I slept at night and wake up with a peaceful mind, because I have did my quota and what is left is in the hands of Gambians.”
He noted that if Gambians choose him, he is ready to serve without taking the load with joy but will serve them knowing it’s a very heavy load.
He said technicalities can be caused from administration but also from party administration, he said, they are studying the situation and they will give a briefing after while added that “the way we conduct election with the marble is not something that you can completely be dissatisfied with because to steal a vote will be very difficult.”
Honorable Halifa therefore urged Gambians to maintain peace and be mindful as the former president Jammeh is watching because he was here and a powerful ruler that was voted out.
