The only independent candidate, Essa Mbaye Faal, in the just concluded presidential election Saturday told member of press that he is ready to accept the result of the election process whenever it is declare.

Mr Essa Mbaye Faal made this statement just immediately after he had casted his vote at the McCarthy Square, Banjul on Saturday, 4th December, 2021.

Speaking to the press, he said he will accept defeat if he lose the election saying it is not a matter of an individual but a collective choice of the Gambian people.

He disclosed that the election fairness is questionable because of the massive vote buying in the country but cannot be intimidated because he believes the Gambian people will exercise their sovereign rights to vote for which candidate they want.

“I pray to God that we will have a just and fair process at the end of the day, a process which all Gambians will be proud of” he prayed and claimed that there are processes to deal with if in case there is disagreement in whatever the results produced.

Describing the Election Day as historic moment in which Gambians decided who to lead the beloved country, he said Gambians are not stupid and they will speak at the end of the day saying that “we have done a TRRC which the whole world has regard as the model for transitional justice.”

“I hope that today our brothers and sisters will deliver a model of democracy that would not only be in the civility of the process but in its transparency and fairness,” he added.
