Lawyer Ousainou Darboe, leader of United Democratic Party, has condemned a viral violence and hate speech audio which was produced by an unidentified man calling for violence, an audio which he (Lawyer Darbo) has distanced himself and the party from.
Mr Darboe said: “I listen to an audio from Santanba UDP group, an enemy to The Gambia, someone who did not want Gambia, someone who is an initiate of violence, someone who is ready to spoil the Gambia and he stood for that and that is the person whose audio I heard. Anyone who is a Gambian whether you are a UDP supporter or not, these satanic people, let no one listen to them or to even believe it (audio).”
“This person did not stand for anything rather than destroying this country a nation that knows only peace, to say people should come out and prepare bombs, that is a way of destroying this nation only a bad citizen of a nation will utter such statements,” lawyer Darbo said.
He added that “The police can investigate this matter. The person who pushed UDP Santanba Kaffo Forum can trace the person’s number and arrest him. The person he was talking to is Sarjo Jarju who can also be traced with the aid of advanced technology. The person who encourages the genocide of Rwanda in this nation that person should be investigated to the bottom of it.”
More so, he said “I suspect that this person who sent this audio viral is not a UDP supporter because a UDP supporter listens well not to do such a thing. Someone did this and cover himself to be UDP to put this country ablaze. Anyone in my party said let no one put him or herself into any trouble. I don’t know anything other than respecting laws and doing anything to take it in accordance with the law of the land. The destroyers of this nation and bad citizens sending these horrible words that can create violence they called themselves strong men when they are not, when violence occurs in this country, they will be the first to run away.”
“If you are a UDP supporter from today you can leave UDP because we do not want violence in UDP. We want people who are peaceful and will maintain law and order in this country. He said UDP went to court, which is a lie. Saying that if we are from the court, who said we are at court? This is a lie no paper was taken to the court you will be spreading false information and given that to people spoiling the name of my party and myself I don’t know who you are but you are such a bad citizen. If you are found you should be arrested and be brought before judgment because you want to create violence bad citizen is who you are you are standing up for me you want to destroy this country you are even an agent for people that are just bad to the united democratic party maybe you are their agent.”
Lawyer Darbo however advised his supporters and everyone not to engage in anything violence and they should try in everything to ignore and avoid violence.
