Gambians get thumbs up for re-electing Barrow

By Adama Makasuba

Ginkon Development Foundation, an association that supports Gambians especially women and children in areas of education and agriculture, has thumbed-up Gambian electorates for re-electing president Adama Barrow back into office during the just concluded December 4 election.

Speaking to reporters at Jambur village, Modou Bojang, Councillor for Sanyang ward and administrator of the foundation, congratulated President Barrow for his election victory and members of the foundation for their support to Barrow.

“Our political arm which is Ginkon brothers and sister really rallied behind His Excellency President Adama Barrow and his NPP to see his re-election and thank God we are all seeing that today. We want to take this opportunity to make it very clear to the general public that we are doing this not for any course but we are doing it to thank people who worked with our political arm which is Gikon brothers and sisters,” he said.

Lamin Konateh, programme manager for the foundation, also thanked Gambian electorates for re-electing Barrow and promised the foundation’s continuous support to Gambians.

“We are thanking our supporters around the country for ensuring that President Adama Barrow is re-elected to power and you have really stood by your words and for that being the case, we assure you our unflinching support back to you. We are here to give words of thanks to our supporters within the country after we went around the country canvassing votes for President Barrow which they all promised and they fulfilled their promises by voting massively to re-elect him,” he said.

According to him, Barrow’s leadership has opened the gate for the foundation to operate its businesses smoothly with no hindrance since its formation in 2018.

“This has been our objective for a longtime, but we couldn’t effectively do it due to the government that was in the country before.  But coming to this government under the leadership of President Adama Barrow, there is a level playing field and this is why we ventured and initiated and created a foundation to embark on helping Gambians especially children,” he added.

“Since the formation of Ginkon, we are helping women and children by building up gardens; donating pounding machines; sponsoring students from primary to tertiary education and as long as the environment is conducive, we will continue give back to the society,” he promised.
