Africa’s best female athlete, Gina Bass is set to miss on contract with America based Sportswear company Adidas if she failed to travel to United States of America for training session, The Voice can report.
According to information obtained by The Voice Sports Desk (TVSD) the Gambian track queen was send an invitation by Adidas to join a US based athletic club for training as part of the contract agreement she signed with Adidas.
According to Mustapha Bittaye, Gina’s delay is cause by the authorities who put little effort in securing her a Visa.
“She was sent an invitation since early November, and her manager made mention of everything in the invitation letter; her place of stay, coach, the club she will be but the Gambia National Olympic Committee (GNoC) is delaying everything,” he said.
He added: “The manager told her that if the Gambia cannot help Gina to go to US to train harder and compete she can lose her contract with Adidas. This is because Adidas sponsored athletes based on their improving performances.”
Gina is the fastest woman in Africa and the first Gambian athlete to have such contract with Adidas.
Bittaye reiterated that his calls on authorities to support Gina are to enable her to maintain or improve her performance.
“It would have been better to get the support so that she can be the best athlete we all want for Gambia,” he stated.
