Gambians and non-Gambians are gripped in fear over possibility of another lockdown due to the Omicron variants which has been ravaging countries around the world.
Speaking to Ya Mundaw Njie she said businesses have not been as usual since the coming of the various two years ago. “We are still facing a lot of obstacles in the market due to the pandemic and life has not been easy because we are not making profits,” she said.
“So, if government should impose another lockdown the struggle will still continue and we don’t want that to happen because we survive from hand to mouth,” she added.
She encouraged the general public to listen to the health advice as it will help in minimizing the risk of the virus and also contributes in the protection of the transmissible diseases which is still around.
Ali Manneh said: “the pandemic has drastically affected the economy over the past years. Adding that sectors like tourism season are still struggling to emerge from the long-term economic lost.”
“We call on the government not to impose a lockdown as it will affect our livelihoods. Things are still at standstill and we all know the reason why it happens, it is because of the Covid-19. Lockdown will be hard on us, what needs to be done is to abide with the health safety measures to help reduce the spread of the virus,” he added.
“A lot of people still don’t believe that the virus exist so they don’t follow health advise. I will advise people to be very mindful because Covid-19 is still with us and the more we believe that the virus exist and use preventive measures, the more we put our health on the safe side,” he said.
The pandemic, Ebrima Sillah said has negatively impacted the lives of so many people and yet the public is trying to hail from those wounds.
