GFF 2nd Div: PSV Wellingara continues unbeaten run, Immigration suffer first defeat

PSV Wellingara has continued with their winning formula in the GFF second division league after defeating Jarra West, while Immigration FC suffered their first defeat to Red Hawks FC in the Gambia Football Federation (GFF) week-5 fixtures of the Second Division League played on Tuesday.

The Wellingara-based team won Jarra West 1-0 in a game played at the Late Ousman Saho field in Old Yundum.

Abdoulie Danso scored the only goal in the game for PSV Wellingara in the 32 minute of the game to maintain PSV Wellingara position at the top of the league, while Jarrakers side fought for an equalizer proved futile.

The win has extended PSV Wellingara lead at top of the standings with 15 points, while Jarra West sit 9th position with 6 points after five games.

Immigration FC suffered their first defeat of the season after being defeated 2-1by Red Hawks in a game played at the Independence Stadium on Tuesday.

Red Hawks FC scored both goals in the first period while Immigration scored their only consolation goal in the second half.

Coach Modou Bah and his charges recorded their first victory of the season after four games, while Immigration side who started very impressively now suffered their first loss of the season so far.

Red Hawks FC now moved out of the relegation zone to 14th position with 4 points, while Immigration FC dropped to 3rd position with 12 points.

Elsewhere, Dibba Oil defeated Wagadu 3-1 in a debutant affairs encounter played at the Soma Mini-Stadium on Tuesday.

Dibba Oil now collected their second win of the season so far, while Wagadu FC now conceded to their three defeats so far.

Dibba Oil now moved to 6th position with 8 points, while Wagadu dropped to 13th position with 4 points after five games.

Meanwhile, there were three others played yesterday (Wednesday) at the time of going to press, when Medical FC were Waterside FC at the Soma Mini-Stadium; Bombada were taken on B4U Kiang West at the Late Ousman Saho Field in Old Yundum and Young Africans were battle it out with Tallinding United at the Independence Stadium in Bakau.
