NPP’s youth president leaps in defend of EFSTH and Kanifing Hospital

Lamin K Saidy, deputy national youth president of National People’s Party, has leaped in defense of Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital and Kanifing Hospital saying they are no comparable to private hospitals due to the financial costs attached.

“In our manifesto we prioritize health, we want to make sure that there is huge investment and improvement in our health care system. We might not have it 100% perfect because at our systems we know sometimes people often make a comparison between the Edward Francis Small Teaching Hospital and other private health facilities,” he said.

According to him, sometimes people are admitted at EFSTH for three to four months and beyond without paying anything to the facility but there are private facilities, if on admission you are to pay about D850 per night. Adding that in those facilities every other thing goes with cost, so whatever they dispense they can recover it back but the government would have to go and rely on programs.

Meanwhile, Mr Saidy also highlighted the National People’s Party manifesto saying that they have their manifesto and the president will certainly be guided by that manifesto. Adding that critically in the manifesto the president believes that in building units one needs to take an approach of infrastructure and put them in place.

He mentioned other key areas of their manifesto which he said include agriculture, youth employment, and more.
