Professor Robinson appointed as UTG Vice Chancellor

Proffer Pierre Gomez, interim vice chancellor of the University of The Gambia (UTG) has disclosed that President Adama Barrow has appointed Professor Herbert Robinson as the 5th Vice Chancellor of the UTG.

The interim Vice Chancellor made this disclosed this on Wednesday during the 11th Matriculation ceremony of the newly admitted undergraduate students of the university.

“Professor Herbert Robinson is a Gambian professor in the United Kingdom who worked for both the UN and Africa Union and he was appointed to role last month,” he confirmed.

Proffer Herbert has an outstanding track record he started his academic career at Loughborough University, UK in 2000. He became a full professor at London South Bank University in UK in 2011 after he taught major academic programs.

As professor of project management and sustainability strategy, he provides leadership programme and curriculum development.

The University of The Gambia is pleased that a Gambian national will occupy the position of vice chancellor to steer the direction of the university with effect from January 2022.

Meanwhile, Gomez went on addressing the students saying “you have every right to feel proud to be students of this institution and it is my strong believe that you will learn, nurture, and develop knowledge and skills that will propel you forward in the challenging world of the 21st century.”

He assured the fresh students that they have assembled competent and experienced professors, lecturers, administrators and other professionals to provide them with the training they require and ensure that their stay in the university is productive.

However, the newly enrolled students took the Matriculation Oath at the ceremony.
