AAITG kickstart a 7 day nationwide caravan on conflict and violence prevention and peacebuilding initiatives

ActionAid International The Gambia (AAITG) secured funding from the European Union through WANEP The Gambia is implementing a 9 month project on Electoral Violence Monitoring, Analysis and Mitigation (E-MAM). The objective of the project is to create a secure and peaceful environment and the necessary human security preconditions that support sustained socio-economic development and improvement of living standards and enhanced peaceful coexistence of the citizenry pre-and post- elections.

 

 This will improve the operational capacities of AAITG with enhanced capacity and readiness to prevent violent conflicts across the 7 regions of the Gambia. The key result of the activities will create a secure and peaceful environment and the necessary human security preconditions that support sustained socio-economic development and improvement of living standards in the Gambia.

 

On Friday 24 December 2021 a caravan kickstart from AAITG head office to reach out to women, youth, Political parties, IEC, NCCE, GPU, CSOs, security officers, religious leaders, local authorities, opinion leaders, media personnel, among others to amplify on the message of peace.

 

On his part Foday Kanyi the Project Manager said, “the beneficiaries will be engaged through dialogue programs, caravans, radio programmes and media outlets and AAITG is committed to coming up with strategies and programs on how peace can be preserved in the Gambia”.

 

He added that the various interactions among the stakeholders during the implementation of this project are expected to bring on the table their comparative advantages, which could galvanize a network in support of and solidarity for sustained peace in the country. 

 

 “The key result of the activities will create among others a secure and Promoting peaceful coexistence among citizen’s pre-and post-election and the necessary human security preconditions that support sustained socio-economic development and improvement of living standards in the Gambia,” said Kanyi.

 

 Tijan Bah the Program Officer for WANEP, The Gambia echoed that his organization is pleased to partner with AAITG and assured of future engagements in peacebuilding activities.
