NPP supporters celebrate as Supreme Court struck out UDP legal case

Supporters of the National People’s Party (NPP) have welcomed a verdict of the Supreme Court in Banjul after the United Democratic Party lost its legal challenge of the election result.

Honourable Seedy Njie, deputy spokesman for National People’s Party reacted that UDP has been living on deception and fooling its people following the party’s Supreme Court misery.

The former Member of Parliament told reporters at the High Court after his party victory that “we knew the will of the Gambian people must be sustained. For us as a party, we know the United Democratic Party over the years have been living on deception, have been living fooling and hoodwinking their people and also by hypnotizing them,’

He continued that “you see people who have no value to their party, who have no value to the country, who have no agenda and program for this country. What they wanted was to destroy people and we are never distracted.

“We are committed to serving this country and we committed to delivering the services as social contract that we have with the Gambian people,” he added.

Ahmed Gitteh, one of Barrow’s staunch supporters also told reporters that he is very happy and promised to fast two days in honour of the victory to God.

“I am very happy because I have been working tirelessly and since September, I didn’t spend a whole day in my house because I was doing work to ensure Barrow is re-elected. This is a victory from God and we are very grateful to all those who voted for us and those who voted against us, we say we are grateful and we are very happy because that’s democracy. And we say thank you to political parties that have supported President Barrow’s re-election. Definitely today I am very happy,” Gitteh expressed with relief.

“I did promise after this I will fast for two days and on Thursday, I will fast in honour of this victory to praise God for making us happy,” he vowed.

Meanwhile, Dou Sanno, Barrow’s advisor urged United Democratic Party supporters to come join in the nation building and forget about the election, adding they have been defeated twice.
