Women’s Scorpions humiliates Police female team ahead of AWCON qualifiers

As part of preparation ahead of its Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers, the Gambia Women’s national team defeated GFF Women’s topflight side Police 6-1 in a game played at the Late Ousman Saho football in Old Yundum on Wednesday.

Cathering Jatta opened the scoring for the women’s national team in the early 8th minute of the game before Haleema Hamilton Froiland made it 2-0 in the 11th minute of the game.

Ola Buwaro scored to make it 3-0 in the 27th minute before Cathering Jatta scored her second goal in the 31st minute to make it 4-0 before going for the break.

The police female side started the second period very brightly when Fatou Mook scored their only consolation goal in the 60th minute of the game to make it 4-1. This awakened the female national team in the second period when Kumba Kuyateh scored to make it 5-1 in the 76th minute while Haddy Wally wrapped up the goal scoring festival for Women’s national team after scoring the six goal in the 81st minute of the second half.

This encounter amongst others ahead will be used by the coach Mariama Boom Sowe and her charges ahead of their Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (AWCON) qualifiers.

The Women’s national team will play against Cameroon in the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers double header in February 2022.

The Gambia will first travel away to Yaoundé for the first leg on 14-17 February, before coming back to Banjul for the return leg on 18-23 February 2022.
