Kartong, Nyofelleh and Sifoe over the weekend advanced to the quarter-finals of the 2021-2022 Kombo South District (KSD) football tournament after winning their round of sixteen matches played at the Gunjur Upper and Senior Secondary School Football Field.
The Kartong boys defeated Batokunku 2-0 to become the first team to book place into the last-eight (quarterfinals) of the on-going Kombo South District biggest football fiesta in a game played at the Sanyang Football Field on Thursday.
Elsewhere, Nyofelleh also defeated Madina Salam 4-3 on penalties after the regulation time ended goalless to progress to the quarterfinals on Friday.
Sifoe beat Jambanjelly 1-0 to join Kartong and Nyofelleh into the quarterfinals stage of the Kombo South District (KSD) football tournament.
Meanwhile, Gunjur and Kachumeh played a 1-1 draw in the other round of 16 matches played on Sunday.
Both teams (Gunjur and Kachumeh) went on to have the post-match penalty shootout but the game failed to produce a winner after all players from both teams had their shots.
The game was reschedule by the Kombo South District (KSD) committee to be played in a later date.
